How to care for your Chinese windmill palm

Your new windmill palm creates a luxurious, exotic ambiance in your outdoor area. Whether on your balcony, patio, or in your garden, the Trachycarpus fortunei always looks great. Its fan-shaped fronds form a dense, umbrella-like crown atop its characteristic, fibrous trunk. Impressive! Generally, the plant is easy to care for, but you should keep a few tips in mind. The Trachycarpus prefers bright or slightly shaded locations. When choosing a spot, make sure it's as sheltered from the wind as possible. The soil should be fresh, consistently moist, and rich in humus. If grown in a container, water the plant regularly and fertilize it regularly with a low-dose liquid or palm fertilizer during the growing season. While the plant is hardy down to -10°C (14°F), you should definitely tie the fronds together in winter to protect the palm from wind and snow damage.
