Bring the sunny south into your garden

Since ancient times, the olive tree has been considered a sacred tree of the goddess Athena in Greece. The olive tree loves sunny locations and is perfect for south-facing balconies or sunny spots in the garden. A long-lasting ornamental tree with a lifespan of several hundred years. Creates a Mediterranean flair as the epitome of the sunny south. Evergreen with olive-green, silvery-shimmering foliage. From the 5th or 6th year onwards, creamy-white flower panicles appear. Increasingly picturesque growth with gnarled bark as it ages. How to care for your olive tree: Spanish Holidays. The oldest olive tree in the world, located in Crete, is estimated to be well over 3,500 years old. With proper care, you too can enjoy your sun-loving companion for a lifetime. Place the olive tree in a sunny location – ideally with stony, loamy soil. The plant only needs moderate water and can also tolerate short periods of drought. As a container plant, your olive tree needs good drainage. In its Mediterranean homeland, the olive tree, also known as the olive tree, is winter-hardy. However, especially younger specimens need winter protection in our latitudes. A bright location at around 5–8 °C is ideal for overwintering. In spring, you can support the growth of your tree with a nitrogen-rich horn shavings fertilizer.
