How to care for your olive bush
This bushy gem thrives both in a pot and planted directly in the garden. A sunny, sheltered location without waterlogging is essential. Thanks to their Mediterranean origin, olives only need moderate watering. Nevertheless, you should water your new ornamental shrub regularly. It's best to wait between waterings until the top layer of soil has dried out. Only older olive trees are winter-hardy. Smaller, younger plants need frost protection, at least in our latitudes, if they remain outdoors during the winter. Potted plants are best placed in a bright, airy location with temperatures between 5 and 10 °C during the colder months. You can encourage the magnificent, branching growth of your olive bush with a generous pruning and fertilization with horn shavings in the spring. With good care, your new southern friend will surely reward you eventually with wonderfully fragrant blossoms and the typical olive fruits. Characteristics: Lat. Name: Olea europaea
