How to care for your vegetable plants

Your tomato and cucumber plants are grafted and, with proper care, will reward you with a bountiful harvest. The two vegetables have slightly different needs. It's best to plant them with some space between them. Tomatoes prefer a sunny spot where they are protected from rain. They need a continuous supply of water from below. You can support the growth of your nutrient-loving tomatoes with compost-rich soil and tomato fertilizer. You can further optimize fruit production by pinching out side shoots. A trellis or other support will give the plants stability, especially when they are laden with flavorful fruit. Your cucumber plants also like it warm and sunny, with plenty of water from below. You should keep the soil consistently moist. A layer of mulch will further protect the soil from drying out. Unlike tomatoes, cucumbers need little to no fertilizer.
